Mesh
2005, 40 minutes
"With its synthesis of cutting-edge visualization, breathtaking artistry, storytelling and humor, Mesh presents complex ideas in a way that is palpable and relevant to even a novice audience."
-New York International independent Film Festival

Mesh was a project sponsored by the Technische Universität Berlin as a way to bring contemporary research topics in mathematics to the general public.
The story traces the development of discrete geometry from ancient Greek number philosophy to its use in computer graphics and the math of soap bubbles.
Janzen joined TU Berlin as part of the Special Research Projects in Differential Geometry and Quantum Mechanics where he worked with Dr. Konrad Polthier on the script and created all 40 minutes of the animation.
Mesh made its first sneak peek showing at the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics in Sydney 2003. It went on to win awards at numerous film festivals and is currently published through Springer Verlag.
